RTC101 - RELASTIN™

In 2002, Revance developed first in class proprietary formulations that have been shown to augment elastin production and improve skin elasticity. Revance was the first company to commercialize products of this kind.

In the area of elastin augmentation and dermal remodeling, Revance has developed cosmeceutical compounds that contribute to the restoration of elastin production in the skin. The loss of elastin is not currently addressed by current prescription or cosmeceutical products.

Elastin is a protein present in the extracellular matrix and is especially abundant in soft tissues that undergo repeated dimensional change, i.e. lungs, blood vessels and skin. The majority of elastin production is limited to a narrow window which peaks in early childhood, declines rapidly, and is nearly repressed by maturity. RTC101 is the only currently available technology that has been clinically proven to augment elastin.

Revance has commercialized the RTC101 technology as a cosmeceutical product line under the brand name RELASTIN™. The products are currently available for sale in three formulations to treat the face and eyes. The products are designed to improve the appearance and contour of skin, and visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles by increasing skin and soft tissue elasticity.
